Green GDP
Green GDP is a term used for expressing GDP after adjusting for environment degradations.
Green GDP is an attempt to measure the growth of an economy by subtracting the costs of environmental damages and ecological degradations from the GDP
The concept was first initiated through a System of National Accounts.
The System of National Accounts (SNA) is an accounting framework for measuring the economic activities of production, consumption and accumulation of wealth in an economy during a period of time.
When information on economy’s use of the natural environment is integrated into the system of national accounts, it becomes green national accounts or environmental accounting.
The process of environmental accounting involves three steps viz. Physical accounting; Monetary valuation; and integration with national Income/wealth Accounts:
Physical accounting determines the state of the resources, types, and extent (qualitative and quantitative) in spatial and temporal terms.
Monetary valuation is done to determine its tangible and intangible components.
Thereafter, the net change in natural resources in monetary terms is integrated into the Gross Domestic Product in order to reach the value of Green GDP.

Representation  of  the  People  Act  of  1951  provides  for  the  actual  conduct  of  elections  and  deals  with administrative  machinery  for  conducting  elections,  the  poll,  election  offences,  election  disputes,  byelections,  registration of  political  parties  and  so on.

Tobin Tax:

A means  of  taxing  spot  currency  conversions  that  was  originally  suggested  by  American  economist  James Tobin  (1918-2002).  The  Tobin  tax  was  developed with the  intention  of  penalizing  short-term  currency speculation,  and  to  place  a  tax  on  all  spot  conversions  of  currency.  Rather  than a consumption  tax  paid by  consumers,  the  Tobin  tax  was  meant  to  apply  to  financial  sector  participants  as  a  means  of  controlling the stability  of  a given country's currency.

A Pigovian  tax  is  a  tax  on  a  good  or  service  that  causes  a  harm  to  society  that  is  not  paid  by  the  users  of that  good or  service. It  is designed to  pay  for  the  negative externalities of  the good.

A Sin tax is a  tax  levied  against  any  undesired  activity. This  includes taxes  on alcohol  and cigarettes.

A ghetto  tax  is  a  term  used  to  describe  how  people  with  low  incomes  pay  higher  prices  for  goods  and services, particularly  those  living  in poverty-stricken areas.

MPLAD Scheme
Why in news?
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved the proposal to continue the MPLAD Scheme beyond the 12th Plan period (2012-17) up to March 31, 2020, an official statement said today.

What is MPLAD scheme?
Members of Parliament Local Area Development (MPLAD) Scheme provides that each MP has the choice to suggest to the Head of the District works to the tune of ₹5 crore per year, to be taken up in his/her constituency.
Initially, this scheme was administered by Ministry of Rural Development. Later, Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MOSPI) has been looking into its working.
Elected Members of RajyaSabha and nominated members of both Houses may select works for implementation in one or more district(s) as they may choose.
It also allows MPs to spend up to ₹10 lakh in any other constituency in India.
National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP)

NSAP comprises of five sub-schemes namely-

1. Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme (IGNOAPS),
2. Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme (IGNWPS),
3. Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme (IGNDPS),
4. National Family Benefit Scheme (NFBS) and
5. Annapurna Scheme.

♻️The above schemes of NSAP are implemented both in urban and rural areas, by the Social Welfare Department in the States.
